Thomas Asbury has extensive experience in the business and legal sector, including development and implementation of corporate operations, policies, procedures, and practices, legal compliance and accreditation standards, oversight and monitoring of internal and external personnel/clients, and demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs.
Prior to joining WellCare, a Fortune 500 health insurance company, as one of two regulatory compliance attorneys, Mr. Asbury served as a government prosecutor for the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration. As a government attorney, he handled hundreds of cases, successfully prosecuted over thirty trials, performed bill analysis for the Governor’s Office, and acted as an advisor for Emergency Suspension Orders and Moratoriums. Prior to this, Mr. Asbury was the Executive Director of Teen Challenge, a non-profit organization, overseeing an annual multi-million dollar budget and all corporate operations. Earlier in his career, he worked in private practice as managing partner of his own law firm.
Prior to his law career, Mr. Asbury worked in the Internet sector as a Webmaster for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. During law school, he published a law review article concerning alternative sentencing theory in cases involving drug and alcohol-related crimes, Alternative Sentencing Theory, 3 FLA. COASTAL L. J. 41 (2001).
Mr. Asbury received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal Law School. Mr. Asbury has also been a lecturer for the National Business Institute, served on various boards of non-profit organizations, participated in Wharton and PENN Alumni organizations, and is a member of the Florida Bar and Jacksonville Bar.
